“By day, a normal stereotypical high school girl with too much curiousity. By night, a snappish and tempermental gal who will let loose the insults that she’s collected over the course of the day… well, only under certain circumstances.”

That’s how my old Facebook profile started out, but recently I’ve realized how much I’ve changed since junior year, so I suppose it would be more fitting to give you the down-to-earth yet extremely verbose summary of my character.

The name is Vivi; feel free to call me my online handles Miri or Misonix. I inhabit Cedar Park, Texas, where I’ve been happily haunting the surrounding area for 18 long years, but presently I’m at MIT doing undergraduate studies. As a foreword before you read any further into my blog, I should mention that I’m atheist and possess libertarian ideals, though not affiliated with the party itself. You have been warned.

I attended high school at VRHS, where I was found frequently living… er, hanging out in the science hallway. I’ve participated in science fairs all four years, making it to the regional and state levels each year. This May, I flew out to Atlanta, GA, for Intel ISEF 2008 with my Behavioral & Social Sciences project about harmonic spectra and Fourier transforms. Had the best week of my life there and did NOT want to come back home. Fall of 2008, I to MIT in the frigid north to pursue their prestigious course 6 (EECS).

If there’s anything that can brighten up my day, it’s a good dose of sarcasm and satire. I have a short attention span unless I’m truly interested. I’m also really bad at being sympathetic. You won’t see me truly excited over much, because I am not partial to much. You won’t see me gushing over cute boys or the latest movies or romance novels. I’m pessimistic and silent until someone brings up a topic I have a lot to say about; in such case, be prepared to sit back and listen to a passionate rant. There are only a few people who can make me truly laugh, and they should know who they are. In friends, I look for intelligence. Good luck. =)

So there you have me in a nutshell. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go do some haxxor programming and/or read me some xkcd…

Likes: efficiency, technology, science, performing arts, carbonated beverages

Dislikes: people who take things too seriously, people who refuse to take control of their own life and emotions, seafood, adults who are unwilling to listen to valid opinions of those younger than they, activities that waste time and/or are inefficient

7 Quick Facts about Yours Truly:

  1. I run an international singing organization - I sing in my office, play music at late hours, and keep binders full of people’s personal information. I am not a stalker, merely a director and producer.
  2. I am a dancer and musician: skipping and leaping down hallways is my habit; humming a tune, fingering chords on the dinner table, and drumming beats on the desks is my hobby.
  3. I’m a minimalist, yet a supporter of organized chaos. I don’t have much in my room, but what is there will be haphazardly strewn about. I am also a seasoned creator of paradoxes.
  4. Having discussions about astrophysical phenomena, computer programming, quantum mechanics, and biological taxonomy over dinner is standard fare for me.
  5. If there is one sure way to assure I sink into the depths of depression, it is depriving me of technology for a week; I cannot live without my computer and am terrified to try.
  6. These past few years I have run a 3am-6am sleep schedule and still manage to be full of energy in the mornings. I do not consume coffee or energy drinks; they are for the weak (as is sleep).
  7. I am an avid card player; I once suggested to my friends we host a 48-hour card-playing marathon, but the idea fell flat when everyone realized I was the only person who could hold out for even half that amount of time.
  8. My favourite words: ambitious, verbosity, and innovative
